SigenStor Neo is Sigenergy's next all in one home battery, backup built in. What is confirmed, where sources disagree, and what to ask before you buy.
SigenStor Neo is Sigenergy's next generation all in one home battery system, unveiled in March 2026, and its main change is that the blackout backup switch is built into the unit rather than sitting in a separate Sigen Gateway. It was previewed in Australia at the Smart Energy Conference in Sydney in May 2026, Sigenergy announced a worldwide market launch on 5 July 2026, and it launched with local pricing in Thailand in September. As of 31 October 2026 we have not found an Australian launch announcement, a published Australian price or a single agreed set of battery module sizes, so treat anything more specific than this with care. This is a shorter article than usual on purpose: it reports what is confirmed and marks the rest.
What Sigenergy has confirmed
From Sigenergy's own releases and the trade coverage of its shows in 2026:
- It is a new line, not a rename. Sigenergy showed the Neo at its Nantong facility in China on 13 March 2026 and describes it as its next generation all in one residential system. Australian reviewers describe it as sitting beside the original SigenStor rather than replacing it.
- More in one box. The Neo combines the solar inverter, the battery inverter, the energy manager, the gateway and the battery in one platform. The original SigenStor already did four of those; the gateway is the new part.
- Backup built in. An integrated 63 A backup switch gives whole home backup with a 0 ms switchover, which Sigenergy says removes the need for an external gateway in most installations.
- Motor starting. The inverter can supply 200% of its rated load for up to 10 seconds, aimed at pumps, compressors and other inductive loads.
- Generator and off grid ready. It can connect directly to a diesel generator and run grid tied, off grid or as a hybrid microgrid.
- Power range. Single phase models from 2.5 to 12 kW and three phase models from 3 to 15 kW, according to TaiyangNews' product report. The three phase model was a finalist in the energy storage category of The smarter E AWARD 2026.
- Thermal and safety detail. Temperature sensors at the cable terminals shut the unit down if a connection overheats, and the inverter's cable ports are angled to take 16 mm² cable in tight spaces.
That terminal sensing is worth noticing. In November 2025 some original single phase SigenStor energy controllers with quick connect AC plugs were recalled for a fire risk, which our Sigenergy brand page covers. The Neo's terminal design reads as Sigenergy's answer to that.
Where the sources disagree
The battery modules are where the published information falls apart. Three published sources give three different pairs of sizes:
- TaiyangNews' report on the smarter E AWARD entry lists packs of 6 kWh or 7.5 kWh, up to six per stack, for 36 kWh or 45 kWh on the 15 kW three phase unit
- TaiyangNews' product feature lists 6 kWh and 8 kWh options
- Gridly's Australian specification page, checked in July 2026, lists 6.0 kWh and 10.0 kWh Neo modules on 314 Ah cells, rated to 100% depth of discharge and up to 10,000 cycles
Those may be different regional versions, different model names, or one source being wrong. Until Sigenergy publishes an Australian datasheet and the models appear on the Clean Energy Council's approved battery list, we will not quote a Neo module size as fact.
The original SigenStor is easier to pin down. Sigenergy announced a new 9 kWh SigenStor module for Australia on 10 July 2026, with a $1,000 per module launch discount through its installer network, and our Sigenergy brand page lists 6 and 9 kWh modules. Some review sites still list the older 5 and 8 kWh sizes, so check the module named on your quote.
Is it available in Australia yet?
At the Smart Energy Conference in May 2026, Sigenergy's own release described the Neo as a preview and gave no Australian timing. Its 5 July 2026 release says the Neo is available worldwide, but names no countries, no power ratings and no module sizes. A retailer page says it launched for Australian homes in March 2026, which matches the unveiling in China rather than any local event, and we have found no Australian price list, no Australian datasheet and no Clean Energy Council listing to back it. By contrast the Thai launch, reported on 1 September 2026, came with official pricing.
The Clean Energy Council listing matters more than the launch date. Without it a battery cannot be claimed under the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which is the discount most Victorian buyers count on. Our rebate guide explains how that discount works.
Who it will suit, once it is here
On what is confirmed, the Neo is aimed at the same buyer as the current SigenStor, with improvements that matter in Central Victoria.
- Homes that want whole home backup without a second box. In storm country like the Macedon Ranges and Hepburn Shire, backup is often the point of the battery. A built in 63 A switch means one less unit on the wall and one less thing to wire.
- Farms and rural homes with motors. Twice the rated output for ten seconds is the figure that decides whether a bore pump or a coolroom compressor starts on battery. Whether it is enough for your pump depends on the pump, which is why we check starting current before we quote.
- Properties with a generator. Direct generator connection makes it a candidate for weak grid and some off grid sites, though for a true off grid home we still design on Victron, for the reasons in our Victron article.
Who should not wait for it: anyone who needs backup before next winter. The current SigenStor with the Sigen Gateway already gives a 0 ms switchover and is on the approved list now.
What to ask before you buy a Neo
- Is the exact model on the Clean Energy Council's approved battery list?
- What are the module sizes on the Australian datasheet, and can modules be added later?
- Does the built in backup cover the whole switchboard, or only some circuits on your site?
- What is the warranty, in years and in throughput, and does it need the system to stay online like the original?
- Can it be mixed with an existing SigenStor stack?
If you would like us to price a current SigenStor now, or put your name down for a Neo quote once the Australian details are published, send us a recent bill and your address through our contact page and we will come back to you.
Questions
What is SigenStor Neo?
It is Sigenergy's next generation all in one home battery system, unveiled in March 2026. It combines the solar inverter, battery inverter, energy manager, gateway and battery, with a 63 A backup switch built in for 0 ms whole home backup.
Is SigenStor Neo better than the original SigenStor?
On paper it removes the separate gateway and adds terminal temperature monitoring and stronger motor starting. Whether it is better for your home depends on the Australian module sizes, warranty and price, none of which were confirmed when we wrote this.
Can I get the battery rebate on SigenStor Neo?
Only once the exact model is on the Clean Energy Council's approved battery list. We had not found it listed as of 31 October 2026. The original SigenStor is listed.
Will SigenStor Neo work off grid?
Sigenergy says it can run off grid and connect directly to a diesel generator. For a home with no grid connection at all, we size the solar for winter and still prefer Victron, but the Neo may suit sites with a weak grid and a generator.
