Solar Tactics of Hallam has stopped trading and its ABN has been cancelled. What that means for owners, warranties and service across Melbourne's south.
Solar Tactics, the family owned solar installer at Hallam that served Casey, Cardinia, Dandenong, Kingston, Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula, has stopped trading, and its ABN was cancelled in June 2025. If you own a Solar Tactics system, it does not stop working because the business has gone, and the warranties from the makers of your panels, inverter and battery are separate from the installer. What has gone is the company you would have rung, so a few steps now will save you trouble later.
What happened to Solar Tactics
This comes from public records, as they stood on 4 November 2026:
- SolarQuotes notes that Solar Tactics has been reported as out of business, that its website is no longer operating, and that ASIC received an application to deregister the company in June 2025
- ABN Lookup shows the Solar Tactics Pty Ltd ABN cancelled on 11 June 2025
- Solar Directory archived its listing in September 2025
- the company's website did not answer when we checked
We found no notice of a liquidator or administrator on ASIC's published notices, so this reads as a business that stopped trading and closed its company. We have not seen anything on why.
Your Solar Tactics system keeps running
A solar system does not need its installer to make power. If your inverter shows a fault, a breaker keeps tripping, or you notice scorching or a burning smell, ring a licensed electrician. Do not open the inverter or the isolators yourself.
Solar Tactics warranties: what still stands
The makers' product warranties. Consumer Affairs Victoria says that if a product has a written warranty and is still inside the warranty period, you should contact the manufacturer directly when the business that sold it is insolvent. Ask who pays the labour to swap a faulty part, because that varies.
The installer's own warranty. Under Solar Victoria's rules, retailers in its program must give a minimum five year whole of system warranty that includes quality of work. That promise came from Solar Tactics, so do not count on it now. Consumer Affairs Victoria on 1300 558 181 can tell you what options remain for a workmanship problem.
Find the brands on your Solar Tactics system
SolarQuotes lists these brands against Solar Tactics: Enphase, Fronius, GoodWe, Sungrow and SolarEdge inverters, Sungrow, Tesla, BYD and Qcells batteries, and JA Solar, LONGi, Qcells, Canadian Solar, Jinko, LG and Solaria panels. Check your own gear rather than relying on that list.
Photograph the label on your inverter and any battery, close enough to read the brand, the model and the serial number. Do not remove any covers. Keep those photos with your invoice, your Certificate of Electrical Safety, the install date and any monitoring login details.
Get your monitoring in your own name
Check you can still log in to your inverter or battery app. If the account was set up under a Solar Tactics email address, contact the maker and ask how to move it to your own. Monitoring is how a fault gets spotted early.
Who can service a Solar Tactics system
Any licensed electrician who works on solar can look at a Solar Tactics system and tell you what it is doing. When you ring around, give them the brands and models, the age of the system and what you are seeing, and send your photos.
Trentham Energy is an electrical and solar business that works across Melbourne's south east and the Mornington Peninsula as well as central Victoria. We cannot take over the old Solar Tactics workmanship warranty, as that promise belonged to the business. What we can do is check the system, tell you what is wrong and help you take a product fault to the maker. Send us your photos and tell us what it is doing, and we will tell you plainly what we can do: get in touch.
You can see the public record on our Solar Tactics page, and our general guide covers what to do when any solar installer closes.
Questions
Is Solar Tactics still trading?
The public records say no. Its ABN was cancelled on 11 June 2025 and SolarQuotes reports its website has stopped operating. If you know different, you can ask us to correct the record on our Solar Tactics page.
Can I still claim a warranty on a Solar Tactics system?
On the products, usually yes, by going to the manufacturer directly while the warranty runs. The installer's own workmanship warranty came from a business that has closed, so do not count on that part.
Who do I call about a fault on my Solar Tactics system?
A licensed electrician who works on solar. Have your photos of the labels ready, along with your invoice and the install date.

Technical Director, Trentham Energy
