Fronius: time of use settings

Tell the battery when it may charge and discharge, so it suits your plan's cheap and dear hours. Settings take effect as soon as you save.

Logging in to your inverter. Password22 is the default password for Trentham customers. You're free to change it at any time.

Set a rule

  1. Open the inverter's web page, at the inverter (see the WiFi guide) or remotely through Solar.web. The default password for Trentham customers is Password22.
  2. Go to Energy management, then Battery management, then Time dependent control, and press Add.
  3. Pick a rule: maximum or minimum charging power, or maximum or minimum discharging power.
  4. Type the power in watts, choose the times and the days, then press Add and Save.

Two common setups

  • Hold the battery through a cheap midday window: maximum discharging power of 0 W, 10am to 3pm.
  • Charge from the grid on free power: in SOC settings, tick Battery charging from other sources and pick the option with the public grid. Then add a minimum charging power above your inverter's size for those hours, such as 10,000 W on an 8 kW inverter.

Not sure what your plan's cheap hours are? The Energy Plan Finder reads your bill and shows them.
