What we found
Trading: Google still lists Lightning Energy as open (428 reviews); its website https://lightning-energy.com.au/ still loads; it had a SolarQuotes review on 26 October 2026.
Open for business: Google, its own website or recent reviews show it trading. A cancelled old name or ABN beside a business that plainly trades on is a restructure, not a closure.
What customers said
The 50 most recent of its 348 SolarQuotes reviews
The 5 star reviews say
Reviewers praise knowledgeable, non-pushy sales staff who explained options clearly and visited sites, plus punctual, tidy installers and quick fixes when mistakes happened. Several also note early or on-time installs and good value, mostly written just after the sale or install.
The 1 star reviews say
Both 1-star reviews describe communication dropping off after full payment, with long delays and incomplete work. One reports a half-finished install where the installer left and a replacement came weeks later, and the other reports meter configuration still not done months after install.
